Search Engine Optimisation.
A lot of people claim to know about SEO, but quite frankly they don't. We're not saying they're stupid... more that SEO is a widely misunderstood concept that doesn't just revolve around keywords.
Tell me, what exactly is SEO?
First of all SEO means "Search Engine Optimisation". It's a term used to describe a series of tasks which are required to improve a websites ranking position in search engine results. The four main areas are:
- Content – Your site content should be as unique and as relevant to the audience that you are targeting as possible. This will make it a lot easier for search engines to associate your site with the phrases people will be searching for by picking up on important keywords that are strategically placed throughout your site.
- Architecture – Amazing site content isn't any good if the search engines can't get to it! Good code, fast loading pages and clear site navigation all help.
- Link popularity – Links to your site from complementary websites that are relevant to your sites content helps build trust with the search engines so that you become ranked higher and more frequently.
- Online buzz – Getting your business known on social media sites such as facebook and twitter will help build awareness and increase traffic flow.
Being successful with SEO
Back in the day, search engine optimisation was never one of the key areas people would invest in. However now more than ever, with the growing dependancy that businesses have on the internet to expose their services to the world, SEO has become one of, if not the most important thing to consider when running a website.
There's a whole host of things we can do to help you increase traffic and traffic quality, including; link building, content analysis, monetisation strategies, competitor analysis, hosting and domain setup, analysis and monitoring, and pay-per-click campaigns.
